According to BabyCenter, Samuel is of Hebrew origin and means “heard God” or “asked of God.”
The latter meaning refers to the story in the Bible where Hannah asked God for a son, and God granted her request.
The name Samuel came in at number 34 on the popularity list for boys names of 2021. It jumped up the list 5 spaces since 2020. It’s a timeless classic, after all!
