Meaning of the name Mason
According to BabyCenter, Mason is a name that was originally used as a last name that had a French origin and some German influences.
The last name was frequently used by stoneworkers in the Middle Ages (think stonemasons and masonry work).
The name Mason was very popular in 2012/203, and although it has moved down the list a smidge, it still ranks in the top ten.
It has continued to be a frequently used name for boys, holding its position at number 6 in the list of popular boy names for 2020.
Some famous Masons are actor Mason Reese, child actor Mason Cook (Cook is actually his given middle name), and NFL kicker Mason Crosby (middle name Walker).
