If you’re expecting, then you’re probably giving a lot of thought to what name you should give to your new baby.
Deciding on a name for your baby is a big deal, and a child’s name plays a very big role in her life.
(You ever meet someone whose personality just seems to fit their name perfectly?)
People spend a massive amount of time searching for the perfect name for their child. They spend so many hours on the task of finding the first name, in fact, that the middle name tends to get lost in the shuffle.
That’s why I’ve been putting together my guide to picking a middle name that sounds good with any first name you can think of!
Scroll down the page just a bit to find my list of the best middle names for a girl named Lily.
I’ve compiled these from baby name databases, parent discussion forums, and other sources then whittled them down to the ones I personally think sound the best.
Hope it helps!
The importance of picking a good middle name for your daughter
It’s true that, at least legally, you are not required to give your child a middle name.
The choice of giving your daughter an extra name is completely up to you.
Still, a middle name is a good choice because that extra name between your first and last can have a lot of benefits!
Here are 3 big reasons you should think and research carefully about a good middle name that goes well with Lily:
A middle name lets you preserve even more family or other important names
Do you have a few important women in your life that you would love to name your daughter after?
It’s probably a tough decision to decide on who gets the honor.
Well, luckily, a middle name lets you name your child after more than one person!
All you need to do is to make sure that the names flow together nicely and roll off the tongue.
Their middle name can, and might, become their nickname
People don’t get to choose their own names; which is crazy when you think about how important a name is.
Often, people decide to go by their middle name full time or use it to create a fitting nickname.
Since your child’s middle name could very well become the name they use the most, make sure that you keep far away from any options that could prove to be embarrassing.
The full name power play
The classic full-name warning; we’ve all heard it at some point. “LILY MARIE JOHNSON, THE DOG DOES NOT WEAR MAKE-UP!”
Every child knows that when mom plays the FULL NAME card, it means BIG trouble.
This classic warning is also a great way to test out middle names for your child! Say your potential names out loud as if you’re delivering your best admonishment; if it’s easy to say then it’s a winner!
(If you ask me, this is almost a good enough reason by itself to pick a strong middle name.)
