Meaning of the name Ivy
According to BabyCenter, Ivy is a name of Greek origin and literally represents the ivy plant.
In ancient Greece, an ivy wreath represented fidelity. It was often given as an offering to newlyweds as a sign of faithfulness.
The name Ivy sits at number 51 on the popularity list for girl names for 2021.
The name also has Old English origins, coming from the word ifig, which means climber. But don’t worry, naming your daughter Ivy doesn’t mean she’s destined to climb out of her crib as soon as she’s born!
Some famous Ivys are model Ivy Mae Anderson and actress Ivy Rhodes. One of the most well-known Ivys is perhaps the popular Batman character, Poison Ivy.
